He also was the road manager. He was a dependable class act all the way. He was 81 when he passed in 2006. I was 16 y/o when I first saw the band. Sonny seeing that I was the youngster of the audience came and said hello during a break. As a young trumpeter myself I was in 7th heaven at his gracious act. That was the most breathtaking performance I have witnessed before or since. There were so many of them they spilled off the stage and onto the dance floor. He told me and my friend about Ellington's death and how he sent his Christmas cards early because he knew he was dying. That was the most breathtaking performance I have witnessed before or since. There were so many of them they spilled off the stage and onto the dance floor. He told me and my friend about Ellington's death and how he sent his Christmas cards early because he knew he was dying. He also was the road manager. He was a dependable class act all the way. He was 81 when he passed in 2006. I was 16 y/o when I first saw the band. Sonny seeing that I was the youngster of the audience came and said hello during a break. As a young trumpeter myself I was in 7th heaven at his gracious act. He also was the road manager. He was a dependable class act all the way. He was 81 when he passed in 2006. I was 16 y/o when I first saw the band. Sonny seeing that I was the youngster of the audience came and said hello during a break. As a young trumpeter myself I was in 7th heaven at his gracious act. That was the most breathtaking performance I have witnessed before or since. There were so many of them they spilled off the stage and onto the dance floor. He told me and my friend about Ellington's death and how he sent his Christmas cards early because he knew he was dying. He also was the road manager. He was a dependable class act all the way. He was 81 when he passed in 2006. I was 16 y/o when I first saw the band. Sonny seeing that I was the youngster of the audience came and said hello during a break. As a young trumpeter myself I was in 7th heaven at his gracious act. That was the most breathtaking performance I have witnessed before or since. There were so many of them they spilled off the stage and onto the dance floor. He told me and my friend about Ellington's death and how he sent his Christmas cards early because he knew he was dying.
